Zach Altman – Writer & Adventurer
About two years ago, I purged most of my material possessions and headed for the mountains to live a life that inspires me. Now I live in western Montana exploring the wilderness as a writer and mountain athlete. I am also a Race Director for the Bozeman Running Company.
I named this blog after the Beartooth Mountains of southwest Montana, which rest on the northern margins of Yellowstone National Park. The Beartooths are my sanctuary. This is where I go to grow spiritually, to challenge my body and mind. Unsurprisingly, this place has permeated into my writing, inspiring this project, The Beartooth Chronicles.
No matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to articulate the allure I feel towards these mountains, or the other ranges in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Maybe that’s the magic of the place. To love a place, to have it strike chords so deep in the soul, is a sensation language cannot convey.
